Crispy Honey Garlic Turkey (Takeout-Style)

Ingredients (2–3 servings)

Turkey

  • 1½ lbs turkey, bite-size pieces

  • Salt & white or black pepper

Light Batter (this gives that look)

  • ⅓ cup cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp cold water

  • Neutral oil for frying (or shallow fry)

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional but helps color)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • ½ tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water


Cook the Turkey

  1. Pat turkey dry, season lightly with salt & pepper.

  2. Mix batter ingredients until smooth.

  3. Toss turkey to coat lightly (not thick).

  4. Fry in 350°F oil (or shallow fry) until golden and crisp, 3–4 min.

  5. Drain on a rack or paper towel.


Make the Sauce

  1. In a clean skillet or wok, add honey, soy, vinegar, hoisin, garlic, ginger, sesame oil.

  2. Bring to a gentle simmer.

  3. Stir in cornstarch slurry.

  4. Cook 30–60 seconds until thick, shiny, and sticky.


Finish

  • Toss crispy turkey in sauce just until coated (don’t soak it).

  • Kill heat immediately to keep the crunch.
