Ingredients (makes 12 rolls)

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

3 Tbsp sugar

3 Tbsp melted butter

1 large egg
-
1 tsp salt

3–3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 Tbsp melted butter (for brushing on top)
Instructions
1. Activate the yeast
In a bowl, combine:

Warm milk
-
Sugar
-
Yeast
Stir and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the dough
Add:

Melted butter
-
Egg
-
Salt
Mix.
Add flour 1 cup at a time until a soft dough forms.
Knead 6–8 minutes by hand (or 5 minutes in a mixer) until smooth and slightly sticky.
3. First rise
Place dough in a greased bowl.
Cover and let rise 1 hour, or until doubled.
4. Shape the rolls
Punch dough down.
Divide into 12 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place on a greased baking sheet or in a buttered 9×13 dish.
5. Second rise
Cover again and let rise 20–30 minutes until puffy.
6. Bake
Bake at 375°F for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown.
7. Finish
Brush with melted butter right when they come out of the oven.
Optional Add-Ons
