Ingredients (makes ~9 slices):

¾ cup half-and-half

½ cup pumpkin puree (homemade or canned is fine )

4 eggs

2½ Tbsp packed light-brown sugar

1½ tsp vanilla extract

1¼ tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground nutmeg

¼ tsp ground ginger
-
⅛ tsp ground cloves
-
9 slices hearty white bread (e.g. rustic French loaf or brioche or Texas)

Butter for griddle
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 225°F and griddle to 350°F (or use a nonstick skillet).

Whisk together all custard ingredients.

Dip each bread slice, soaking both sides.

Cook on griddle until golden on one side, flip and cook other side.

Transfer to oven to keep warm (up to 10 mins).

Serve with warm local maple syrup.
