Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

½ cup melted butter (cooled slightly)

¾ cup sugar

(or ½ cup sugar + ¼ cup brown sugar)

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

½ cup cocoa powder

1½ cups all-purpose flour

¾ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
Prep

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment.
Mix

In a bowl, mash bananas.

Stir in melted butter.

Mix in sugar, egg, and vanilla.

Sprinkle in baking soda and salt, mix well.

Add cocoa powder and stir until smooth.

Fold in flour just until combined.

Gently fold in chocolate chips.
Bake

Pour batter into loaf pan.

Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top if you want.

Bake 55–65 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.

Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
Tips

Riper bananas = better flavor.

Don’t overmix once the flour goes in.

Serve warm with butter or a drizzle of honey.
